upcoming trip

If you had read my older post on the volunteer trip, then you would know that I'd be travelling to Phayao soon.. Yeap.. It's finally here!=)

I'd be travelling to Phayao this coming Friday, 22.02.08. I'd only be back on the 02.03.08. Sunday noon. Basically I'd be uncontactable.. I need to switch off my phone during the day and would only check my SMSes during the night. So if there are any urgnt matters, most prob I'd only reply in the night time. I seriously dun wanna my phone be jam packed with all the suppliers and contractors!

I've yet to find time to pack my backpack.. =( It's considered my first time going overseas to a rural area... So I'm kind of lost of what to bring there! Mosquito coil, insect repellent and first aid kit should be something I shouldn't miss.. By the way, my mum and sis are very doubtful if this city dweller of me is gonna to survive there! Well, they might have their valid reasons for that.. Hehe..

Looking back at my last business trip to HK, I'd actually reached airport at 1/2 an hour, JUST before the flight took off.. Yeah.. Your eyes are not playing trick on you.. it's a freaking 30 mins! OMG.. I was so late that time! I'd actually overslept, as I was slogging the night before at my office. Luckily I still manage to catch the flight in the end. Of course.. with many apologies and pitiful stares to the front desk staffs. Haha..

This time is gonna be another morning flight that I hated! I'm so not gonna be late!

O yah, I need to thanks those who had donated money to the kids in Phayao. Thanks for your generosity =) The fund raised money would goes mainly to here:
  1. bringing the 40 kids to visit the city in Chiang Mai (including chartered bus, and KFC as lunch) - It's the kids 1st time to KFC
  2. translator - We were told the kids were not so good in english.
  3. games props
  4. soveniers
  5. microwave (currently, they do not have one at their hostel)

Mainly the money would be spent on most of the expenses of the kids. The rest of the fund raised money would be passed to the hostel for some other usage. So if anybody who is still keen to help in my fund raising, please message me. I'd fork the money out 1st.. =)

I'd be blogging on this post again when I'm back! So see ya and take care people!!

Jack and Rong's Wedding

25.12.07 (back dated)
Christmas
Rong & Jack's Wedding
*Pics added for the previous post*

This post is just to add photos for thr previous post of Rong and Jack's Wedding on Christmas. Haha.. Yah.. very late! Me, colly and mic were invited to be few of the 'sisters' of Rong's. It's my first time to attend my friend's wedding and to be a sister. Below are the photos of the day:

Bride getting dressed..

The anxious bride waiting for the groom.

While the bride is busy dressing up, we were busy writing questions to sabo the groom. =X

Getting answer from the bride..

Colly and rong

Me and the bride..

Her real sisters and cousins

Finally the groom was here.. while they..

....PUSHES and SQUEEZES their way in the moment they reached! Pay extra attention to the 2 guys in grey shirt and red orange strip shirt, who is holding on to the roast pig. Knowing that we can't destroy the pig, so we had to literally allow both of them in the house.. Hmmpf!

Heh. Look at the 2 guys! They really managed to squeeze in! Arggh!

We qucikly secure back the gate, and chase the remaining guys out of the house! We need to keep them out to secure our ang baos!

The awful dark chocolate! The groom taking the punishment for getting the answer wrong. As the groom was late, we had no choice but to make things quick.. and allow him and his 'brothers' in.

Colly was fast to hold that guy in strips (is him again playing cheat!) from the bride's room!

We make jack to kneel down and sing a song before the bride's room. Only after a loud love confession to the bride, Jack was then finally let to fetch the bride.. =)

The sisters' gang!

To the groom's house.. I had serious problem holding on to the bride's dress..

After the busy day, following that was the dinner.. While I was handed the receptionist job... Ning couldn't bear to see the blur me messing up the guest list, so she decided to help!

Here comes the DID full group of people.. hey people, put the ang baos down before going in!

After Solemnization, the bouquet of flowers were threw.. and the lucky sister is.. Caiyu!

We were most probably the table with most pics taken! Haha.. Mini DID gathering.. =)

That's it for this post!

Chesty Nutty Bang Bang!!!

01.02.08
Friday
'Hairspray Phoenix' by Chesty Nutty Bang Bang @ Drama Theatre (inside National Library)

It's my first time buying tickets to watch a local play. Well, it's the comedy stand up by the Chestnuts. It has guest starring like Joakim Gomez, Celine Rosa Tan, and the female lead of the Singapore hit Getai movie 881, Yeo Yan Yan. Of course not missing out the ''home team'' in Chestnuts. At first, I got totally no clue what this play is about, only to watch it as the group name sounds funny. So I reckon it might be a funny play. Futhermore, the best seating of this play is only at 40 bucks. So I thought it's pretty worth it. =p

'Hairspray Phoenix' by Chesty Nutty Bang Bang is a crazy show that spoofs everyone and everything, from Hollywood movies to the Singapore political scene. It's the collecting of material happens all year round, where events are highlighted and poked fun at. Yes, sacastically and funnily. However, as many of the sketches are referenced to movies, advertisements and news of past year.. So if you missed out on many big movies last year, you would find yourself catching no balls.

I was lucky as I've catched most of the movies that they referenced with, ie. X-men, Harry Potter, The Lust, Hairspray, 881, etc etc.. Some parts of the play was unexpectedly funny. Me and my friends were almost falling off the chair when they translate ''Umbrella'' by Rihanna in full Hokkien song! ''Hor sua, hor sua, hor hor hor... chi ki xio hor sua..'' Gosh, it was so damn funny! I nearly teared at that part! Overall, I'd rate my 1st virgin play a score of 7/10. =)

Below are some of the photos that we took..

Drama Centre @ Natianal Library

When the play ended, we walked to have our dinner cum supper..

Checking out our chinese horoscope..

Increse in movie tix price a.g.a.i.n!

Not sure if you guys have heard of the increase in price tixs at Cathay?! Cathay has always been my preferred cinema, mainly because of the nice and comfortable seatings. However, just recently I've overheard the increase in price for the movie tix in Cathay (not so sure for the rest of the movie companies). Did a quick search to affirm of what I've heard.. This is what I gather:

Just in case the print is too small for you to read, for blockbusters movie like Harry Potter, Spiderman, X-man, etc etc.. there would be an ADDITIONAL charge of 50 cents on top of the regular tixs.. This implies that a movie on weekends could cost up to $10.50 for each tix. *cold sweat.. It's really getting pricey.

Although it's still justifiable that singapore movie tickets rates are still very much affordable than many other europe countries, even Taiwan & HK (I recall them being more expensive than Singapore).. Still, a weekend out for movie could means burning a hole in many people's pocket, not counting if you wanna buy a popcorn combo.. -__-''

Still, knowing that it's not cheap to watch a movie nowadays, I guess many people will still be left with no choice but to live with the increase in price. Seriously, there's already not much things to do during the night time in Singapore.. If we boycott movie.. I really dunno what are we still left with!

Everything is increasing in price including the taxi fares.. Hmm.. shouldn't this concept be reflected in our salary too? =p
